Salt and Enson Parish Council was founded in 1894. It comprises of 7 Councillors who serve a four year term.

Meetings are held every other month, on the first Wednesday, including an Annual Meeting at which the Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected. In addition the Parish Council hold a specific yearly Annual Public Meeting to report back to residents about the previous year. This is usually held in May immediately following the usual Parish Council Meeting.

The dates of the meetings for the coming year are shown on the Agendas & Minutes page. Meetings are held in Salt Village Hall.

The public are invited and welcome to attend all Parish Council meetings.

Parish councils make all kinds of decisions on issues that affect the local community. Probably the most common topics that parish councils get involved with are planning matters (they are statutory consultees), crime prevention, managing open spaces and campaigning for and delivering better services and facilities.

It’s true to say that on their own, parish councils have limited powers to make decisions but they do have the ability to negotiate with, and the power to influence, those other organisations that do make the final decisions such as other tiers of local government, health authorities, police etc
